It is South Jutland’s biggest town with approx. 30,000 inhabitants and has grown up around Sønderborg Castle. Sønderborg is situated very close to the German border.
It is the guides and scouts in Denmark, who arrange the camp. The guides and scouts in Denmark have approx. 60,000 members. Last time a big jamboree was held in the country was in Holstebro in 2012 with 37,000 participants.
The jamboree is held from the 22 to 30 July 2017 at a scenic area close to Sønderborg and right down to Alssund. The campground is 310 hectares (766 acres), equivalent to 600 football fields.

At the camp site there is a place to make a bonfire, where the groups will prepare their own food. There will be supply of food, so all cultural and religious regards are taken into consideration.
The subcamp participates in a joint full-day activity – and the individual company or troop can choose to participate in a number of exciting open activities.
Finally there are the big events like campfire, opening ceremonies etc.
It will be a week with fellowship, educational activities and good experiences.
